We Are Family
Using music and theatre, Pecho Mama led a new conversation a celebration of the residents and musicians of Corby and the people that we call ‘family’.
Gig-theatre company Pecho Mama worked with The Core to present We Are Family, a celebration of the residents and musicians of Corby and the people that we call ‘family’.
In the winter of 2021, Mella Faye (Artistic Director of Pecho Mama) gathered stories from Corby’s residents, and alongside four local musicians created a piece of public performance art.
Through a combination of film, interviews, original music and live performance, We Are Family was a chance for us all to experience some human connection when we needed it the most.

Pecho Mama was created in 2016 with the aim of creating work that tramples the boundaries between live music and theatre. Pecho Mama’s debut, ‘MEDEA ELECTRONICA’ has enjoyed great audience response, a string of 5-star reviews and was selected by LiVR, who captured the show as a live VRexperience. The show was selected at Edinburgh 2018 to showcase at FAE in Peru in March this year.
Pecho Mama is a platform for Mella Faye’s work as a director, composer and performer, working with world-class collaborators. Mella is developing an original performance language, that is progressive and music-driven. She has over 20 years’ experience in creating teaching and producing performance. Mella has just been awarded a place on the New Voices Artist Development Programme by Sound & Music.
